Mumbai Metro Line 5: MMRDA Invites Bids for Rs 84.35 Crore Kasheli Depot Track Works
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has invited bids worth Rs 84.35 crore for track works at the Kasheli Depot of Mumbai Metro Line 5. The project includes the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of standard gauge tracks that will support operations and maintenance for the Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan metro corridor.
The tender, issued under Tender Number MMRDA/MPIU/ML5/CA-303, pertains to the Kasheli Depot track works for the Mumbai Metro Line 5 project. The estimated project cost stands at Rs 84.35 crore, while the Earnest Money Deposit has been fixed at Rs 42.17 lakh. Interested bidders are required to pay a tender fee of Rs 3,000 along with 18 per cent Goods and Services Tax.
According to the tender schedule, the pre-bidding meeting will be held on June 10, 2026, at 3:00 pm. The deadline for bid submission has been set for June 30, 2026, at 6:00 pm. The selected contractor will be required to complete the project within a period of 20 months.
The scope of work includes the design, development, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of standard gauge track works, including both ballasted and ballastless track systems, within the Kasheli Depot for the Mumbai Metro Line 5 corridor.
Mumbai Metro Line 5, also known as the Orange Line, is planned to connect Thane, Bhiwandi, and Kalyan, providing a faster and more reliable public transport network for commuters travelling between these rapidly expanding urban centres. The Kasheli Depot will function as the operations and maintenance hub for the corridor, supporting the efficient functioning of metro services.
The invitation of bids for the depot track works represents a crucial milestone in the execution of Mumbai Metro Line 5, as the depot infrastructure will play a central role in the operation, maintenance, and long-term sustainability of services on the corridor.
